  • OctoberFARE brings together people who are impacted by food allergies for three days of educational sessions, insightful discussions and meaningful connections.

    Specifically, this travel grant is for OctoberFARE's Saturday Summit, which will be held on November 1st at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, in Washington, D.C.

    OctoberFARE Travel Grant Program

    Purpose: The OctoberFARE Travel Grant Program has been created to ensure more of our community can experience the incredible weekend, despite financial need. The grant is designed for adults and teens with food allergy (teen must be accompanied by a parent/caregiver) who have a need for financial support. The grant covers registration and portions of the travel and lodging costs, depending on the applicant type. Grant recipients under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The deadline to apply is August 4, 2025. 

    Regional, National, DC Grant Types

    Your distance from Washington, DC, determines for which grant you should apply. 

    • National grant (More than 250 miles from Washington, DC)
    • Regional grant (Within 25 to 250 miles of Washington, DC) and willing/able to drive
    • DC grant (within a 25-mile radius of Washington, DC) and willing/able to commute

    National grant recipients will receive:

    • Free conference registration(s) (for teens under 18, one (1) additional free registration is given to a parent/caregiver)
    • Two (2) nights at the conference hotel (room rate and taxes only)
      Round-trip, economy, airfare/train/bus up to $600 (up to $1,200 for teen and parent/caregiver), through FARE-approved travel agent.

    Regional grant recipients will receive:

    • Free conference registration(s) (for teens under 18, one (1) additional free registration is given to a parent/caregiver)
    • Two (2) nights at the conference hotel (room rate and taxes only)

    DC grant recipients will receive:

    • Free conference registration(s) (for teens under 18, one (1) additional free registration is given to a parent/caregiver)
    • Free parking (if driving)

    Grant funds (if applicable) will be electronically distributed to all awardees upon check in.

    As part of the award requirements, recipients will be asked to share their OctoberFARE experience, which may be in the form of an essay, interview, video, or another form of media.

    Grant recipients will be chosen based on essay responses and demonstration of financial need.

    Eligibility criteria:
    Applicant Type - Must be a patient or caregiver directly affected by food allergies.

    Financial Need - Must demonstrate financial need to justify the grant support.

    Impact and Advocacy - Must articulate how attending OctoberFARE will benefit you and your community. Share any past involvement in FARE, food allergy advocacy, or plans to contribute in the future.

    Diversity and Inclusion - We encourage applications from individuals of diverse racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds.
